Having wrapped up our stay in Big Sur it was time to continue our march north. Being on a time crunch we took the main freeways from Big Sur up to San Francisco to make out Alcatraz tour. It was a very overcast and cloudy day with the occasional spit of rain. Originally I had planned on camping just north and west of the Golden Gate at Bicentennial Campground, but when we arrived the area was socked in with fog and the Point Bonita fog horn was blaring. Not the way I wanted to spend the evening so we went into town and staying in a hotel for the evening.
