I think the title of this one pretty much says it all. Snow is rare in Las Vegas. The amount of snow we received in mid-December of 2008 was legendary. The news said the next day that the amount of snow received in Henderson, which is where we are, was a 30 year snow.
At the time Dawn and I were carpooling back and forth to and from work. Lucky us. Right after Dawn got off work she drove straight to my office, picked me up, and we drove to pick up Lexi from daycare. It took us over an hour to get from my office to her daycare, a normal 45 minute trip at most with heavy traffic. It was a preview of things to come.
We started up to our house and saw cars pulled over off to the side of the road. People venturing home would start up a hill, lose grip, and just pull their cars over and give up for the night. The main drag up to our house looked more like a parking lot than a street. Over three hours later we were finally safe and sound at home. Of course we didn’t have the heart to put Lexi straight to be without going out and playing around in it…
Of course being so late it makes for a very tired kiddo.
We woke up the next morning to our very own Winter Wonderland.
Of course I knew simply telling people we had 8 inches of snow would be unbelievable so I had to get my proof.
Funny thing is that I think the wife and I were the only ones foolish enough to actually try to venture into work the next day while all our neighbors were calling in. Then again I got a great picture for my trouble.
