Wwwwweeeeeeeeee!!!

Last week was really hectic here at work. Had a ton of work to take care of and it just didn’t seem to want to stop. All of it came to a head on Friday though. I was sitting at my desk when I heard a loud ‘pop’ noise immediately followed by my computer shutting off. I looked around my desk and found that my computer didn’t blow up but the power to my desk had gone out. I located the building and grounds guy that works at the office and told him what happened and he instructed me to talk to the electricians, who were about to leave, about the issue.

They came over and took a look and started pointing fingers to things like our refrigerator and microwave as a possible cause. The electrician then took a look at the breakers and found that three breakers had been tripped. Again they initially thought that the problem was being caused by us having too much equipment hooked up to the circuit. We then explained to the electrician that we have had this setup in its current configuration for more then two months and that this was the first time we have had any problems.

The electrician then had an assistant turn on the breakers and waited to see what happened. He heard the same noise as I had heard previously. We then decided to disconnect all the electrical and try the breaker again to make sure that we weren’t drawing to much power. After that experiment failed we grabbed the electrical paperwork to discover where the electrical connections were.

You see we have a false/raised floor in our office area. This consists of carpet tiles that are glued to floor tiles that sit atop a grid work which keeps the entire show about 2 feet about the concrete pad. It was done this way in order to help in the running of electrical, data, heating and cooling.

After consulting the electrical diagrams we started pulling up the necessary floor tiles to attempt to diagnose the problem. Once the first floor tile was pulled up the problem was pretty apparent one of the electrical connections was sitting in a puddle of water. It seems that the rain that we have received over the past couple days had started to seep into the building. This caused a pool of water nearly a half inch deep, in spots, to be under the floor of our office. We proceeded to pull up several floor tiles in our office in order to allow the pool to dry out over the weekend. Came in Monday morning and everything appeared to be dry.

So finally got my computer back up and running yesterday after lunch. Unfortunately I was busy getting some cleaning done in some other areas of the office and didn’t get a chance to finish this posting. So here I am this morning trying to wrap everything up.

On Sunday morning Lexi woke up early as usual. She just loves to wake up at around 7:30 in the morning. Normally I pick her up and put her in bed with me and we hang out for an hour or so before we finally get up. This past Sunday was no different. After getting up we went ahead and had some cereal for breakfast and hung out. Lexi started getting all hyper, excited and was running all over. This gave me the idea to take her out to a park. I grabbed her bag and a couple bottles of water and we left for a park over on Russell Rd.

As we pulled up to the park she was just looking out the window taking it all in. Once I parked the car she really started to get excited. She was pointing out the front window and bouncing up and down in car seat. So I hurried and got her out of the car and we started towards the playground equipment. This little turkey just starts running across this field of grass heading in the direction of the playground. It was so funny and she was just so excited. We played on the slides and climbed over everything for nearly an hour and a half. Another nice thing was a couple groups of kids that came and went for her to play with a little. It was a great time.

After the park I decided to go over to a Toys ‘R’ Us on the other side of town looking for her Blue. I was in luck as they had three available. So I choose the best of the three for her to take home. While I was there I also picked up a replica of her first Elmo in the event that the original is every lost or worse. The doll is 23 inches in length, pretty large even for her. She loves it though! Once finished at the store we headed home and watched the NASCAR race.
